Welcome to the Session Guide
Thank you for choosing Dynamic Imagery by Becca to photograph your session! This guide is designed to help you plan a stress-free, fun, and memorable experience from start to finish.
Outdoor sessions are typically scheduled one to three hours before sunset or one to two hours after sunrise to take advantage of the most beautiful natural light. Indoor sessions are scheduled during daytime hours to ensure the best lighting possible.
Below, you’ll find helpful tips and guidance for every part of the process, including outfit planning, location selection, and what to expect during your session.
What to Expect
Before Your Session:
Before your session, we’ll discuss all the details and vision for your shoot to ensure your experience is personalized and stress-free. I’ll send over a questionnaire to help me better understand your style, preferences, and what you’re hoping to capture during your session.
Prior to your session date, we’ll have your location and outfits finalized so you can feel fully prepared and confident. If you have any questions along the way, please feel free to reach out at any time!
During Your Session:
Most photo sessions last between 30 minutes and one hour. We’ll meet at your selected location at the scheduled session time and explore different spots throughout the area to create a variety of beautiful backgrounds and images.
I’m always happy to incorporate any fun posing ideas, meaningful props, or creative touches you’d like to include to make your session feel personal and unique!
After Your Session:
After your session, I’ll immediately back up your images and begin the editing process. During busy season, galleries are typically delivered within 4–5 weeks, while winter turnaround times are usually 2–3 weeks.
Once your gallery is complete, your images will be professionally edited and lightly retouched for any temporary blemishes or non-permanent marks. You’ll then receive access to an online gallery where you can easily download, save, share, and print your images.
Tips for Choosing Your Outfits
The most important advice I can give when choosing outfits is to wear something that makes you feel confident and comfortable. Your photo session is a special occasion, so don’t be afraid to dress up a little and have fun with it!
When coordinating outfits, aim to complement each other rather than perfectly match. Choosing colors within the same palette creates a more natural and timeless look in photos. If you love patterns, I recommend limiting them to one patterned outfit for every three solid-colored outfits to keep the overall look balanced and cohesive.
It’s also helpful to consider your session location when selecting colors. For outdoor sessions in parks or natural settings, earthy tones and colors that complement greenery tend to photograph beautifully — such as shades of rust, burnt orange, mustard, navy, burgundy, cream, tan, and soft blues. Neutral tones like white, black, gray, and beige also pair wonderfully with almost any setting and help create a classic, timeless feel.
Selecting Your Location
Choosing the right location helps bring your session to life and makes your photos feel even more personal. I always encourage clients to select a place that feels meaningful to them, whether that’s a favorite park, a downtown area, a cozy in-home setting, or somewhere you love to visit regularly.
You can also choose a location that complements the style and colors of your outfits to help create a cohesive look for your session. Whether you’re envisioning a natural outdoor setting, an urban vibe, open fields, or something completely unique, I’m always open to new ideas and locations!
If you already have a specific place in mind, let me know. I’d love to help bring your vision to life!
